Note: It’s important to realize that blocks in your tool palette are links to the definitions in a drawing. It doesn’t get any easier than this, right? You can right-click on each of the tools to modify any of the individual properties, such as name, scale, and even the layer on which you want it inserted! Now you have quick and easy access to your favorite blocks right from the tool palette.

Choose Create Tool Palette from the right-click menuĪ new tool palette with the folder or DWG name that you right-clicked on is automatically created and, like magic, it includes tools for all the blocks!.

Right-click on the folder or DWG file that contains your block definitions.

We’ll be using AutoCAD DesignCenter to quickly create a new tool palette of your existing blocks so, if you haven’t already, now would be a good time to read last week’s Tuesday Tip on AutoCAD DesignCenter. You probably already have a block library (on your local or network drive) that’s organized into folders with a bunch of small DWG files that you use for blocks, or DWG files with many block definitions in them, or a combination of both. The parameters of the mirrored subassemblies are not dynamically linked. All the subassembly parameters, except for the Side parameter, are retained. The Mirror command creates a mirror image of the selected subassemblies. The subassemblies are displayed on the left side of the assembly marker. Click the marker point on the assembly baseline.In the drawing, select the four subassemblies you added.Mirror the subassemblies to the left of the baseline This action ends the subassembly placement command. In the drawing, click the marker point at the outside edge of the sidewalk subassembly.In the Tool Palettes window, on the Basic tab, click BasicSideSlopeCutDitch.In the drawing, click the marker point at the top, back of the curb.In the Tool Palettes window, on the Basic tab, click Basic Sidewalk.Select the grip, and then click the correct marker point. A blue grip is displayed when the subassembly is selected. Press Esc to exit subassembly placement mode. If you attach the subassembly to the wrong marker, you can move it to the correct location. In the drawing, click the marker point at the top-right edge of the travel lane.In the Tool Palettes window, on the Curbs tab, click UrbanCurbGutterGeneral.The right lane subassembly is now attached to the assembly baseline. In the drawing, click the marker point on the assembly baseline.In the Properties palette, under ADVANCED, specify the following parameters:.In the tool palette, right-click the Tool Palettes control bar.If the Tool Palette containing the subassemblies is not visible, click Home tab > Palettes panel > Tool Palettes.

When the ‘Specify assembly baseline location’ prompt is displayed on the command line, click in the rectangle under the profile views.
